Introduction to Getting Listed in the Classical Authors Directory

This Directory is organized alphabetically by author, and most web pages in it are suggested to us by users. Web pages (URLs) are placed in subcategories by our content team, who visit and evaluate your suggestions, and decide where they best belong. We do this to ensure that the Classical Authors Directory is organized in the best possible way, is easy to use, intuitive, helpful, and fair to everyone.  If you have a web page (URL) that you would like to suggest, we ask that you only suggest links that are related to one of the authors already in this directory. In the future, we may add new authors, and even allow users to suggest new author categories.

How to Get Listed in the Classical Authors Directory
With your help the Classical Authors Directory is being built on the principle of a semantic network. In relationship to adding your URL to our directory, and to maintain semantic relationships within the network itself, we require a reciprocal link from your web page to the category for which you are adding your URL. For example, if you have a biography of Abraham Lincoln, you would add your URL to the category: Classical Authors Directory > L Authors > Abraham Lincoln > Biography. When our content team visits your URL, it will be checking for a reciprocal link on your page to the Classical Authors Directory. Your reciprocal link must link back to the category of your URL submission. The only substitute for the above requirement is a link from your Website to a related author page located at selfknowledge.com. If you already have a link, or plan to link to an author page at selfknowledge.com, we will accept that as your reciprocal link, and you may add your URL to the Classical Authors Directory.

Why Are Reciprocal Links Required?
We are creating a continuous network of interlinking websites which will benefit everyone. For example, let us say that from a Search Engine an internet traveler goes to a biography of Abraham Lincoln located somewhere other than your Website or the Classical Authors Directory. On their page they have a reciprocal link to category: Classical Authors Directory > L Authors > Abraham Lincoln > Biography, where your URL is listed. The internet traveler follows this reciprocal link to the above category. From this category they can follow your listed URL to your Website.

You see, everyone benefits because those who are cross-linked are sharing their audience with other websites on the network. Members of the network benefit, because internet travelers tend to stay within the network of related information.

Step 1: Find the appropriate subcategory in the Classical Authors Directory.
On the main Classical Authors Directory category page, you will find authors organized alphabetically. Move through the subdirectories until you find the author you are looking for
(i.e. Classical Authors Directory > B Authors > William Blake). Once you have arrived at the "Author's Category Page," you may add your URL only to these subcategories: Biography, Lesson Plans, Miscellaneous, Online Books or Portrait and Pictures. You may not place your URL under the "Author's Category Page" (i.e. William Blake).

Remember that our content team visits each site suggested. Proper categorization on your part helps us process suggestions quickly. You may add more than one link as long as it relates to the subcategory, and links to a different page at your Website. Duplicate submissions of the same URL to different categories is not allowed. Violators may have all their links removed and banned from the network.

Step 2. Suggest your site from the appropriate category.
Suggest your site from the author's subcategory you think most appropriate. Do this by clicking on the "Add URL" link at the bottom of the page. Also remember that the final placement of your site is determined by our content team. Suggesting a site is free. You pay nothing.

When you click on "Add URL" in the appropriate author's subcategory, you will see an online form asking for information about your site. Please be prepared to provide your name, e-mail address, your site's title, URL and a brief description. E-mail addresses are necessary and used when you need to change your URL. You are e-mailed a password after filling out the Change URL form, which you then use to edit your listing. Please ensure that you use the full URL (http://www.yourdomain.com/...) in your entry. Also, we ask that you do not use any non-alphanumeric characters in the description.

We update our database on average every two weeks. Websites following the guidelines above can expect to be added in this time.

Please help us to help you by providing your information as outlined above. Finally, thank you for suggesting your Website.

Best wishes,
Content Team
