"The Divine Comedy, Volume 1, Hell" by Dante Alighieri is an Italian narrative poem begun around 1308 and completed around 1321. This opening cantica follows Dante's journey through the nine circles of Hell, guided by the Roman poet Virgil. The work represents the soul's recognition and rejection of sin in its journey toward God.
